Nintendo - Over 70% of U.S. gamers play on Nintendo systems, Wii U controller not a tablet, dance game fans don't play FPS'

- combined sales of Sony and Microsoft home platforms are actually still down when you compare this generation versus the last generatio
- U.S. households during this timeframe have grown by about 5% during this time
- combined unit sales of those two platforms is actually down 9%
- sales of the Wii have been more than three times those of the Nintendo GameCube
- in the U.S. market, 43% of players say they use only Nintendo hardware
- another 30% say that they play with Nintendo platforms as well as other platforms from other manufacturers
- 23% of all players say that they play either Sony or Microsoft systems exclusively
- more than three-quarters of all players here in the U.S. are playing on Nintendo platforms
- Nintendo doesn't see dance and exercise fans being highly engaged in First Person Shooters

Reggie also made a point to once again stress that Nintendo doesn't see the Wii U controller as a tablet.

It’s important to note this new controller is not a tablet. Its purpose is far different. It’s a technology that’s tied wirelessly to the Wii U console and it’s intended to bring experiences into the home and to have family members interact with each other.
